Whitewater kayaking means floating through wilderness canyons, feeling the rushing water beneath you, joyfully exploring new rivers with new friends, and playing like otters while riding down rapids. The experience of kayaking is excitement, beauty, fun, camaraderie, physical challenge, adventure, and most of all, personal enrichment.
The team of outdoor enthusiasts that work with Different Strokes Kayaking are all avid athletes that have an immense passion for kayaking. The staff at Different Strokes takes pride in provoking excitement and commitment for this wonderful sport. Our goal is to produce strong, self sufficient paddlers that have all the tools needed to approach the river safely and successfully.
Different Strokes Kayaking School not only enjoys teaching the sport of kayaking, but also takes pride in building one of the best whitewater communities on the West Coast and Truckee River. We strive to get our students in the river as well as introduce them to the spectacular community of paddlers in the Reno–Tahoe area.
